What are extended pickets, do all railing sections have them?
Answer:
Extended pickets are on all 4' to 10' railing sections. The middle
picket extends past the bottom rail and butts to the floor on the 4' to 9' sections. The
10' sections have two pickets that extend to the floor. Normally you attach the extended
pickets to the floor using a Stub Shoe. This gives added support to the whole section. Not
usually necessary, can be cut off, but advised for the best and sturdiest installation for
railing used on upper levels.
