Big Green Egg - Grill Extender

Creates second shelf, doubles cooking capacity.

Notes from the Egg Master, Erik:
The grill extender is 4-1/4" tall and the diameter is 15-1/2". You can only fit one grill extender in a Big Green Egg.. I can fit 2 family size packages of chicken in my large with grill extender in place, one thighs and one legs.

I can fit 6 pork butts on my large Big Green Egg using the grill extender. Four on the bottom and 2 on the top. I fed 150 people with 6 pork butts at a Boy Scout family buffet. That's a lot of meat.

If you'd like to experiment with cooking with indirect heat, you can flip the grill extender upside down and hook it onto the regular cooking grid and use it to hold a water pan. This keep the heat from directly hitting your larger cuts of meat, and also catches any grease drippings from fowling your charcoal.
