INDUSTRIAL SLIDE GATE INSTALLATION

These instructions describe how to install a Jerith Industrial sliding gate.  Please read all of the directions before starting to hang the gate so that you can understand the procedure.

The special width section, which sets the optimum spacing between the two 4" support posts, must be installed first with the wall mount casting provided.  When the gate is open, it will overhang the opening by 6".  To give the gate maximum clearance, position the post 6" from the end of the opening. (See figure below.)  Set the posts in concrete and let them harden in place.   Make sure that they are plumb and level before the concrete sets.

Remove one nut, one flat washer, and one lock washer from each of the threaded rods attached to the trolley mechanisms inside the gate's top track. Move the remaining nut so that it is about 1" from the bottom of the track. Insert one rod into each of the post brackets. Replace the flat washer, lock washer and nut onto the bottom of each rod. (See figure at right.)Four hinge brackets are included.  Take the two that are 4" high and mount them so that there is a 1-3/4" space between the bottom of the upper wall mount casting and the top of the bracket.  Use a 1/8" drill bit to place four holes in all three sides of a bracket and attach it to the post using the using the screws provided.  (See figure to right.)

(See figure at right.)

Carefully slide the gate into the closed position.  Using the nuts on each threaded rod, level the gate so that the gate rails line up with the fence stringers. Once this is completed, tighten the nuts to hold the gate and trolleys into position.

Next, attach the bottom post brackets, which are about 2" high.   To do this remove the lower nut, lock washer and flat washer from each of the threaded rods in the bottom track of the gate.  Slide the post brackets onto the rods and replace the washers and nuts as before.  Leave about 3/4" of threaded rod at the bottom.  Pull the gate out slightly at the bottom and attach the post brackets to the bottom of the posts.  Only 2 screws on each side of the brackets will be necessary.  Drill pilot holes using a 1/8" drill bit.

Readjust the nuts on the bottom post brackets so there is 4" from the bottom of the track to the bottom of the threaded rod.  (See figure below.)   This guide trolley adjustment is critical, so make sure it is correct!

Readjust the nuts on the bottom post brackets so there is 4" from the bottom of the track to the bottom of the threaded rod. (See figure below.) This guide trolley adjustment is critical, so make sure it is correct!  Open and close the gate about 15 times to check for ease of movement.   If the gate seems to bind, adjust the bottom guide trolleys.  This is the most likely spot for the gate to hang up.  The top trolleys should not need any adjustment.

If this is a single slide gate, close the gate and and set the latch post so that the end of the post is even with the end of the gate.  (See the first figure again.)  Mount the keeper on the post using a 11/64" drill bit to drill pilot holes in the post.  If this is half of a double slide gate, hang the other gate in a similar manner, making sure that the gates meet in the middle, and attach the keeper to the side of one of the gate frames.

***** The installation of your Jerith™ Industrial Cantilever Gate is now complete.

WARNING: Do NOT lubricate the trolleys.  They have sealed bearings and therefore do not need extra lubrication.
