How to use a Repeater Pair |
|
The
Repeater consists of two modules that work together. The Repeater Pair must be placed the
same distance from the Gate Access Panel, about 10 to 20 feet apart, not daisy
chained in line, from one to the other.
One
of the Repeater modules must be set to the B-frequency, with dipswitch
#1 switched ON.

here to see the Repeater Diagram
Repeaters
must not be mounted inside. Always mount outside.

How Do You Teach the Repeater to a
NEW system? ( System is new or the Repeater
was not used in the system previously) |
|
|
| 3 |
How Do You Teach the Repeater to a
Previously Connected system? ( System was
already established and the GAP had been PAIRED to an Intercom or Telephone Interface.)

How Do You TEST the Repeaters? How
can I tell if they're really working? (Perform this test at close range.. no need to test
at full range) |
|
- To test the Repeaters, first perform the TEACH steps.
Then,
- Remove the batteries from BOTH Repeater Modules.
- Press the CALL button on the GAPLM.
- If the system does not connect, go to Step 5
- If the system connects (The intercom or Telephone
Interface (OTIU) Ring, then you have not properly performed the Teach Steps involved with
the Repeaters. Repeat Step 3.
- If you have reached this step, the system is not
functioning at all with batteries of the Repeaters removed. Now:
- Install the batteries of ONE OF THE REPEATERS.
- Press the CALL button. The system should function.
- Remove the batteries from the first Repeater that you
just tested and insert them into the 2nd Repeater. Press CALL again. The system should
work.
- Insert batteries in BOTH Repeaters. System should
work.
- MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PLACED ONE OF THE Repeater's DIP
SWITCH #1 TO ON. The other Repeater switch #1 should be OFF.

When Do I Need A Repeater? |
|
- Very Long Range... see step 7
- The range is less than 100 to 200 feet and yet you
cannot get a good connection... see step 8

Long Range Use |
|
|
| 8 |
Using Repeaters when The system
has very short range Using with Stucco Homes
|
|
- Even when the range is reasonably short, you could
still experience a poor connection.
- This is due to either a noise source matching the
system frequency set at 900 MHZ, of due to a blockage that does not allow the radio to
penetrate (Such as stucco)
- Before installing repeaters:
- Try changing the SYSTEM CHANNEL SET... Enter PIN#, 55,
then 2 or 3 (The system is shipped with the default frequency set of 1. You can change the
frequency set to 2 or 3). Once you have performed this step, you much re-teach the
intercoms and OTIU to the GAP again. Did this solve the issue?
- If the above step did not help, change the
location of the Intercom or OTIU. Is there a COMPUTER PRESENT NEARBY? Try turning it off.
Is there another source of noise, such as a 900 MHZ Video Device? Turn it off and try the
system.
- If the above step was not helpful, install the
repeater:
- In the case that the system range is shorter than a
few hundred feet without Repeaters, you must place the Repeaters NEAR THE HOME... (NOT
half way from the GAPLM).
- You can mount the Repeaters on a roof truss, or, mount
within 50 feet of the home on posts.

Cascading Repeaters |
|
- Repeaters can be cascaded.
- To Cascade, you must Teach in this order:
- Teach GAPLM to Repeaters
- Teach ONE of the Repeaters to each of the repeater
modules of the 2nd set.
- Teach ONE of the 2nd set of the Repeaters to the
Intercoms and OTIU.
