Then "click" the "Save Current As Defaults" button and all of those prices will be saved as the default for that category of labor. 3. "Zero All" - This button will change all of the fields to a value of zero. It is provided to give you a clean start in configuring prices. If you intend to "Save Current As Defaults", described above, select the category of labor you wish to Save As. Select either Residential, Commercial or Union labor. 4. "Help" - This button activates the help window for this dialog window. 5. "OK" - This button saves the prices currently displayed and uses them for calculating your current job. It does not change any of the defaults. 6. "Residential, Commercial and Union Labor" - These are called radio buttons. You can select only one at a time. When you do, the prices will be changed automatically to the defaults built into the program or new defaults that you previously saved. See item 2 above for saving new defaults. 7. The standard Windows "Close Window" square in the extreme upper right corner of the dialog window will close the dialog window as usual and not save any figures that you have entered. It works the same as a CANCEL button. ----------------------------- EXPLANATION OF PRICE FIELDS: ----------------------------- There are many price fields provided that will compute labor based on different quantities. You can use as many of the fields as you desire to do labor calculations. If you do not want to use a field, simply leave it blank or put in a zero amount. Permitted entries are zero or dollars and cents. Fractions of a cent are not permitted. Negative numbers are not permitted and will be changed to zero by the program on exiting the dialog window. Do not enter the $ sign. That is assumed. Here is the calculation that takes place on each price field: -------------------------------------------------------------- 'PRICE' is the price you have entered * PER SQ. FT. - The height of the chain link is added to 1 if barbwire is included. This height is multiplied times PRICE times the total lineal footage for the job. Example: Job total footage is 500'. Height of chain link is 6'. Barbwire is included. You enter 1.00 in the field. 6' plus 1' is 7'. 7 times 500 is 3500. 3500 times $1.00 is $3500.00 labor for this item. * PER TERMINAL - The number of terminals, including gate posts times PRICE. Example: You entered 10 terminals in the quantities dialog window. You entered $15.00 here. 10 times $15.00 is $150.00. * PER SQ. FT. GATE - The total square footage of surface area is computed for all gates times PRICE. Example: You have entered 3 single gates 6' high x 3' wide. You also entered one cantilever gate 6' high x 20' opening and one double swing gate with a width of 14'. You enter .25 in this field. The sq. ft. of all these gates is: Walk gates: 3 X 6 X 3 = 54 sq. ft. Double gate: 6 X 14 = 84 sq. ft. Cantilever Gate: 6' high x 20' = 120 sq. ft. Total sq. ft. = 54 + 84 + 120 = 258 sq. ft. Total price for this field = .28 X 258 = $72.24 * PER YARD FOOTERS - Total yards needed for the job times the PRICE. This calculation is only performed if the job requires concrete. Example: Your job requires 5 yards. You entered $60.00 here. 5 times $60.00 is $300.00. * PER DRIVE POST - Total of all posts times PRICE. Only calculated if you have selected "Drive Posts" as your method of installation. Example: You have 10 terminals, 50 line posts and 3 cantilever posts. You entered $15.00 in this field. (10 + 50 + 3) X $15.00 = $945.00 No allowance is made for different sized posts. * PER GATE LEAF - Simply the number of gate leaves times PRICE. A double gate counts as two leaves. * PER FT. TOP RAIL - The lineal feet of top rail needed times PRICE. * PER FT. TENSION WIRE - The total of top and bottom tension wire needed times PRICE. This figure also includes the extra foot needed for each hookup. * PER FT. OTHER RAILS - Bottom and middle rail is normally harder to install. You can figure these rails spearately from top rail. You must enter a figure here if you intend to charge for installing these rails. They will never be included as the top rail figure. Example: You need 200' of fence with a top, middle and bottom rail. Only the middle and top are figured here. That is 400' of rail. 400 times PRICE is the amount added to labor. * PER FT. BARBWIRE - Total barbwire needed times PRICE. Example: 200' of fence requires 600' of barbwire plus 6' for hookups. That is 606' needed. 606 X PRICE = labor for this entry. * PER BRACE - Simply a price for each brace installed. * PER TRUSS - Simply a price for each truss rod installed. * MINIMUM CHARGE - This is your minimum labor charge for any installation. If the total charges from all other labor calculations does not exceed this minimum, the labor charged will be this PRICE. * BASE CHARGE - If you wish to charge a flat fee such as a job setup fee, enter a figure here. It will be added to the total labor regardless of the size of the job. Example: Your other labor calculations are totaled at $35.95. You wish to have a flat start-up fee of $75.00 per job. The total quote would be $110.95. * MATERIAL DELIVERY - You can enter a charge for delivering material here. * SHOW ALWAYS - This check box instructs the program to show the material delivery charge as a separate line entry on the printed list, both to the screen and to the printer. * ADD ON FLAT FEES - Here you can enter a description and price for flat amounts of cash to be added to all your labor. The prices will be added to the total labor figure. Example: You have a "hassle" fee for labor. Add "Hassle" to your descripion field and the price in the field adjacent to it. Your hassle fee of $1000.00 will be added to every labor calculation. * PER TENSION BAND - The number of tension bands times PRICE. You can figure the hookup time based on the number of tension bands required for the job. * CORE DRILL PER POST - each post times PRICE. * PER HINGE - number of hinges times PRICE. * CUSTOM PER UNIT ADD ONS - Here you can add a price and description to an add on item for labor based on a "per unit" basis. Choose the "per unit" field and the PRICE will be added to the total labor. Example: You want $2.00 per foot for clearing a fence line. Enter 2.00 in the left field. Choose "lineal foot" in the combo box field. Enter your custom description in the "Displayed Description" field. The program will add $2.00 times the total footage for the job to the total labor. ================================= FAQ (Frequently asked questions) ================================= Should I place a $ sign in the price fields?
