GTO Slide Gate Operator with Brake
The brake model slide gate operator has an
internal braking system. It is useful if security or vandalism is an issue. The standard
SL-1000 does not have a brake in it. There is no electric lock option available for this
operator. The operator will hold the gate shut and one person can not force it open,
however two people or a force equal or greater may be able to force it open. This
would either break the chain, strip the internal gears or both. You may prevent this
from happening by ordering the SL-1000B. The SL-1000B has an internal brake
installed. This brake locks the gears down so that they can not be forced open. If a
strong force were to try to force it open, the gears would not be stripped. Someone
would have to cut and remove the chain in order to force the gate open. Simply put, it is
a safety device to prevent operator damage and to further secure the gate. It is more
expensive than the standard SL-1000 as you have noticed, however it may be a cheap
insurance policy preventing damage.
