Replacement Transformers Follow
this guide to order the proper transformer for your GTO powered gate. There are 5 choices
and not all will work with all GTO gate operators.
Background Information:
GTO, Inc. upgraded all operators in March 2000 to comply with UL325 safety
requirements. With this and other changes, different transformers were required than were
included on original equipment. More importantly, operators made after March of 2000 are
different and require different transformers.
If you bought your operator after March of
2000, chances are you have the new upgraded UL325 operator. It is possible to have
purchased it after March and have an older style. Vendors were allowed to sell their
existing stock and the time of the change. If you bought it from Hoover Fence after March
2000, you have the new UL325 regardless of which operator model you purchased.
One way to tell the difference in the old
style and new is the new one has a warning beeper feature. Also, the new UL325 had a
change in the way the control cables connected. The old style had plugs on the end that
connected to the control box. The new style has no plug on that end. It has bare wires
that slide into the control box and connect to a terminal board.
Older style transformers will work on new
operators, but newer ones will not operate on older ones.
