How to install aluminum fence posts to concrete or other above ground application.
(retaining walls, decks, etc)

deck mount casting, post installation, Jerith, installing posts to decks or concrete

deck mount casting, post installation, Jerith, installing posts to decks or concreteTo Properly install Jerith* deck mounts, these steps must be followed.  Failure to do so may result in improper seating of the casting and loosening of the post.

  1. Cut the post to the proper height, if necessary.
  2. Place the post over the deck mount.
  3. Tighten the bolt at the base of the casting until it is snug.
  4. Tap the base of the casting firmly on a hard surface.  This will allow the two pieces of the casting to seat better.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 twice.
  6. Now tighten the bolt for the last time.  This should hold the post securely.
  7. Attach the deck mount and post assembly onto the deck using the appropriate lag bolts.

For the most stable installation, add knee-braces to connect the middle of the post to the deck itself.  Knee braces are modified pickets that are available from Hoover Fence Co.

* Please note: The drawings and picture on this page are specific to Jerith.  We also carry aluminum fence from other manufacturer's and the deck-mounts may vary.
