Architect's
and Contractor's Specifications
The swing gate operator shall be a model SWG as manufactured by Operator Specialty
Company, Inc. (OSCO).Cabinet:
The unit shall be enclosed in an all galvaneeled steel, weather-resistant cabinet with
welded seams and black powder-coated finish. Cabinet door shall be hinged, gasketed
and key lockable. The housing shall be large enough to contain control panel and any
additional accessories, such as loop detectors or timers.
Mechanical:
The unit shall utilize a right-angle gearhead speed reducer. Gears shall consist of a
hardened steel. machine-cut worm and mating bronze gear running in oil. Bearings
shall be heavy-duty pillow block type. Operator shall be equipped with a double-disc
torque limiter. A timer shall be furnished to protect clutch from burnout should
gate be obstructed. After maximum run timer expires, timer should turn motor off.
Internal drive chain shall be a minimum #40 roller chain.
Electrical:
Motor shall be a minimum 1/2 or 3/4 HP, high-starting torque C-flange gear motor.
Starter shall be a contactor type magnetic reversing with mechanical interlocks.
Starter shall be completely pre-wired. Motor overload protection shall be provided.
Limit switches shall be cam type to limit travel to between the fully open and fully
closed positions. Limit switches shall be full precision type.
A 3 button control marked "OPEN-CLOSE-STOP" shall be furnished on SWG
installations.
Operator shall have open-override circuit. Sequence of operation shall be such that
if radio or single button is activated when closing, gate will pause and reverse to open
position.
Mounting:
Unit shall be mounted on two 3"-3-1/2" O.D. posts embedded in concrete, pedestal
for pad mounting is optional.
Safety Devices:
An electric edge or photoelectric control is recommended for pedestrian protection. |
