The Porch Post Tie Down Storm Kit is designed to give additional support to structural porch posts during storms that are accompanied by strong winds. The problem that could occur is the wind actually raising the roof of the porch to the point where the posts are no longer kept in place by the weight of the roof. The kit consists of special made plates that fasten with screws to the aluminum support system inside the porch posts. The plates are then attached to the roof and the base of the porch. The kit also comes with top and bottom trim to give a finished look to the post. Kits available designed to fit 5"x5" and 4"x4" porch posts. Comes in white, tan, gray, almond, and clay to match our porch posts. Our porch posts now come with similar designed plates and this kit may not be necessary. These kits are sold as optional equipment for replacing the old style plates if high winds are a problem.
