If you desire to add a gate to your arbor, it is recommended to add leg extensions using 4x4 pressure-treated lumber to give the extra support needed to handle the weight and slamming of a gate. Instructions are included with the arbor showing how this is done. Gate kits are available in our vinyl fence section that can be made to fit these arbors. A gate is not recommended for the Traditional arbor. The Sturbridge arbor should not require extra leg extensions because it already has long enough posts to give you 36" in-ground installation, depending on where you live, you may want to add extensions to get below the frost line.
