Question:
Should I let vines grow on a wood fence? I have vines growing all over an older
fence I wish to replace. I believe the vines are a determent to a wooden fences well
being. Should I tear the vines away from a wooden fence and not let them grow on it ?
Applicable Products:
Wood Fence.
Reply:
Yes, if the wood is not treated. The pressure treated type of lumber can stand it, but
untreated wood will rot quicker. Vines on chain link fence will accelerate the rusting
process as well. Never use treated wood around edible vegetables. The treatment can leach
into the soil and cause possible contamination of the food.
