Q.) May I
order a custom size wood gate?
A.) At this time, we offer these gates in the following approximate
sizes: 4', 6', 8', 10, and 12' wide. You may order and install these as a single swing, or
double swing gate. Custom-sized gates are offered, but accrue additional lead time. We
would need the exact opening side between gate posts, or columns (inside to inside
measurement). Please fill out our Sales Request Form to request a quote and estimated lead time. If you
have exisiting gate posts, these may be able to be 'pulled' and rest to the proper
'opening size' to avoid custom gate pricing which is higher, and longer lead times. If the
gate is slightly too large, you may consider mounting the gate on the backside of the gate
hinge post. This is actually the preferred method of mounting gates in the UK we're told.
A considerable amount of adjustment is provided for with some of our gate hardware which
will account for fractions of inches here and there. |
Q.) Does gate hardware come
with these gates?
A.) All gate hardware is sold separately, hinges and latches. We carry
hot-dipped galvanized hardware, powder coated over galvanized gate hardware, and stainless
steel gate hardware. Visit our gate hardware catalog
for our current and complete offerings. |
Q.) By 'impregnated pine',
does this mean a stain has been pressure-pumped into the wood?
A.) Yes, a certified impregnation plant is used to pressure treat the
lumber. this same treatment is used on outdoor furniture and playsets. This helps prevent
decay and insect infestation. |
Q.) Can I finish my gate in a
different color? Do you offer other colors?
A.) You may repaint your gate(s) if you choose, but re-painting is
certainly not necessary. We do not offer any other colors at this time. |
Q.) Is lumber kiln dried prior
to gate construction?
A.) Yes, lumber is dried down before treated and built into a gate. |
Q.) How heavy are these gates?
A.) Weights vary per gate style and width. The gates get lighter per
foot, the wider they are made too. A Cambridge 10' wide gate is approximately 55 lbs. An
Oxford style gate, 10' wide, is approximately 66 lbs. |
Q.) Can I attach my wire fence
to these five bar gates?
A.) Yes, you may attach farm and field, woven wire, welded wire, and chain link fencing to
these gates. Staples are commonly used. |
Q.) How difficult are these to
install? Can an average homeowner do it?
A.) Yes, most five bar gates can be installed by the average homeowner.
Common hand tools such as a drill, crescent wrench, tape measure, shovel, and post hole
diggers will be required. We have an assortment of high quality fencing tools
we can ship with your gates! |
Q.) Do you have a fence style
to match your five bar gates?
A.) We've had customers use Cambridge style gates as corrals, and sides
on barn stalls, portable horse fences, etc.. We offer western red
cedar split rail fence, treated
split rail fences, and WV lap rail fences in wood which compliment this gate style nicely. Vinyl post and
rail and vinyl split rail fences are also nice to consider. |

a week or so. Please contact us at 1-800-355-2335 from 9-5 eastern time for personalized

committment to our product line is required. Technical assistance, dealer discounted demo
