The Boston Garden Post is a full size reproduction of the handsome posts and caps that line the walkways of America's oldest park, the Boston Botanical Garden. The caps are cast in aluminum and secured to the post with two set screws just like the original. The posts are constructed from a heavy aluminum extruded "I" beam that has been notched to accept the chain. Therefore, there is no chance of rust or corrosion. Both the posts and the caps are coated with a high quality black polyester powder coat. Classically, the 48 inch posts are installed with 24 to 26 inches above ground. The 72 inch posts are installed with 36 to 42 inches above ground. For commercial installations we recommend that each post be set in concrete to a depth that will prevent frost heave. 48" Posts - 6 lbs. ea. 72" Posts - 9 lbs. ea. Post Caps - 2 lbs. ea.
