5/8" Alumimum Picket Casting - Unfinished (NW241-SBL)
These picket castings (scrolls) fit 5/8" sq. O.D. pickets and use a single screw (not included) to attach to aluminum pickets. The picket casting attaches to the picket, placing half of the casting in the space between the pickets on each side. The finished appearance is that of two scrolls, one in each space. Minimum amount of space required between each picket is 1-5/8". Also please note that castings can only be used on every other picket, since they fill two spaces. To fill every space, figure one casting for every other picket.

This diagram illustrates the mounting of a picket casting. The center hole allows for a single screw to secure the casting to the square aluminum picket. Design your project as shown with no more than a casting on every other picket, since the castings actually fill two spaces between pickets. Allow enough space between each picket for the casting to fit. If you divide the picket casting width by two, that is the minimum spaces that should be allowed between the pickets. Add a little space for clearance. The design of your project can include less picket castings. It is not necessary to fill every space. The top and middle rail usually has sufficient room to mount these castings between them. This is the most popular use for the scrolls.
