The Gibbs Post Hole Digger combines a sharpened single blade with hinge action that works like a bucket to bring loose soil to the surface. Often called a mud bucket, this tool features a steel scoop with hinged components and a 6' precision-molded hardwood handle. The hinged design provides leverage to swivel the blade from its upright cutting position to a 90-degree angle for lifting soil out of the hole. Built for medium to heavy commercial digging, this digger keeps holes consistent at approximately 10" diameter. Recommended use includes starting the hole with a shovel, then using the digger to scoop out soil and rocks. For larger rocks, a spud bar is suggested to preserve the digger’s life. Weighs approximately 11.5 lbs with an overall length of 85".
