Question:
Does it matter if a cedar fence is touching the ground? A friend told me it will rot
the fence because it does not get a chance to dry. And if so How far off ground should it
be installed. Thank you in advance.
Applicable Products:
Wood Fence.
Reply:
Yes, it does matter if a cedar fence is touching the
ground. It will rot prematurely if it is installed this way. A 2" ground
clearance is recommended between the fence and the ground. Additional information
may be found here on cedar fence construction by reading about the various styles: http://www.hooverfence.com/wood/index.htm
