Chain link fence loop caps are used on intermediate line posts. Loop caps sit on top of the line post and have a ‘loop’ to allow the top rail of the fence to slide through. Loop caps fit loose; the weight of the top rail and chain link fence hold them in place. Once chain link fabric is all tied in place, there will be little movement. Most loop caps are slightly offset to place the top rail more towards the face of the fence, the side where the fabric will be stretched.
There are two sizes to specify when ordering chain link fence loop caps, the vertical post size and the horizontal top rail size, specified as post size x top rail size. Standard chain link fence tubing sizes are as follows in Outside Diameter (O.D.): 1-⅜” (actual 1-5/16” O.D.), 1-⅝” (actual 1-⅝” O.D.), 2” (actual 1-⅞” O.D.), 2-½” (actual 2-⅜” O.D.), 3” (actual 2-⅞” O.D.), 3-½” (actual 3-½” O.D.), 4” (actual 4” O.D.), 6-⅝” (actual 6-⅝” O.D.), and 8-⅝” (actual 8-⅝” O.D.).
