Used Treated Farm Posts - Various Sizes Available. Approximate weight is 13 lbs per foot of post length. A 9' post weighs 124 lbs.

Advantages - Use treated round posts for farm and field fence, high tensile fence, decks, docks, and landscape projects. Round treated farm posts are very cost effective, versatile, and may be used in several different applications.

Disadvantages - It is typical to have to re-tamp posts plumb after the ground settles around post so that the fence remains upright. This is especially true if the fence is installed in a wet area or it was wet when the fence was originally installed. Pouring gravel around the posts instead of backfilling with dirt will help prevent posts from leaning under the heavy weight of the rails and will also help with proper drainage of water away from the posts. Fence requires a preservative for the longest-lasting performance, however most installations are never treated.

Installation of Treated Round Fence Posts - Posts are typically set directly in the ground. End Posts, corner posts, gate posts, and other 'pull-posts' may be set in concrete fence post footers. Use a tamping bar to compact dirt around post while backfilling if not using cement. Farm posts may also be driven.
