Shop: PrivaScreen 90% Fence Privacy Screen - Full 50' Rolls
Use this guide to measure for fence screening products like Privacy Screen for Chain Link Fence and Windscreen products. It is very important to take accurate measurements and to always make sure that your tape measure is straight without any sag. If you guess on the high end, your fence screening will be to long.
Step 1:
Grab your measuring tape, pad and pencil, and a friend to help.
Step 2:
Measure the height of your existing fence (or the fence you are planning on installing). Write down the measurement.
Step 3:
Measure your first complete run of chain link fence from inside of the beginning tension bar to the inside of the ending tension bar. Write down measurement and label as 'Stretch # 1'. If the measurement is over 50' long then you will purchase Full 50' Rolls, and one Custom Cut Section for the remaining size.
Step 4:
If you have more stretches, repeat Steps 2 and 3, and keep a list of sizes you need. It is helpful to keep this list for when you install the fence screening so that you have a sort of map to follow.
Step 5:
Once you have all the stretches measured out an noted, go through each stretch and divide by 50'. This will give you the total number of full rolls you will need to order. Whatever distance remains after this will be a custom per foot section.
Step 6:
Figure cable ties needed by taking each complete piece of privacy screen on your list and adding Top (in feet) + Bottom (in feet) + Side (in feet) + Side (in feet). Since the grommets are every foot around the screen this number will equate to the number of ties you need for the installation. This is where it gets a little tricky - we recommend installing the 7-1/2" ties (50 lb) on the top half and halfway down the sides, and then using the 8" (120 lb) ties across the bottom and halfway up each side. The reason behind this is that when the ties break it will fold down onto itself and keep the fabric in better shape. Since you have the total number of ties needed, divide that by 2 and round up to the full bag quantity for each.
