Hoover Fence Company's Chain Link Single Track Aluminum Slide Gates, sometimes called 'Top-Track Cantilever Gates' are of the highest quality cantilever gates available in the industry. Single track aluminum slide gates are designed for gate opening up to 30' wide. If you have a larger opening to secure, you can utilize two kits (with minor modification) to secure an opening up to 60' wide! If your opening is larger than this, we recommend you look into our Double Track Aluminum Slide Gates.

If you are looking to secure a gate opening and install an access control system, then this gate is the perfect candidate for automation with a slide gate operator (or opener). The high quality hardware that is included with this kit ensures smooth sliding for years to come. An added bonus is that the track seals the trolley assemblies from the elements so snow and ice will not bind up the moving parts.

Ordering Notes:

The sizes shown are the opening sizes that these gates will secure. Please note that these gates have a counterbalance that can be as much as 50% of the opening size so you will need a total of 1.5 times the opening size to the right or the left of the gate (whichever direction it slides) so that you can fully open the gate. Gates are also built shorter than the height shown so that there is room for all the hardware while maintaining the height of the surrounding fence.

How Do Aluminum Slide Gates Work?

All aluminum gate frames are supported from a heavy duty aluminum track by two sealed stainless steel gate trucks. Gate trucks are bolted to two truck hanger brackets which are then bolted to mounting posts. Bottom of gate is kept true and straight with bottom roller gate guides. The continuous aluminum gate track provides an enclosed alley for gate trucks to operate, free from dirt, debris, and weather elements. Pinch points are also virtually eliminated making our aluminum cantilever slide gates one of the safest in the industry. Gate frames feature welded aluminum construction and feature vertical, horizontal, and diagonal support to maintain structural integrity. Aluminum slide gates may be used manually or automated with an assortment of gate operators and access control devices.

How Do Aluminum Slide Gates Differ From Conventional Steel Cantilever Gates?

Internal track aluminum slide gates differ from conventional steel cantilever gates in their material of construction (aluminum v. steel), hardware design, and ease of operation. Aluminum track gates are lighter than steel cantilever gates and are considered to be superior due to the lower maintenance associated with aluminum construction. The internal, nearly-enclosed gate track and high quality stainless steel gate trolleys also operate smoother than conventional steel cantilever rollers with fully exposed gate frames which serve as a 'track'. Fence project budgets will also dictate which is used with the aluminum cantilever slide gates typically being more expensive. Both aluminum slide gates and steel cantilever gates are popular for self-storage gates, municipal applications, and a variety of other commercial and residential gated applications.

Instructions

Installation procedures for aluminum slide gates and steel cantilever gates are similar. Generally, posts are set one day and allowed to cure in concrete. Gates typically deliver fully assembled and simply need hung from trucks or rollers. Installing posts and truck brackets plumb and level assures smooth gate operation. Exceptionally large gates may need shipped in more than one piece and assembly finished in the field. Two piece gates will be 'sleeved' for ease of assembly in the field.
