Radio receivers and remote clicker transmitters are the most popular access control device used with automated gate openers, garage door openers, commercial overhead doors, and electric locks. Use on nearly any piece of equipment requiring a normally open momentary pulse switch. Radio receivers are included with most gate openers and garage door openers and are usually programmed to transmitters and wireless keypads.
Single channel receivers are usually used to control one device and programmed to usually an infinite amount of transmitters. Hand out as many transmitters to access a gate, or door as you'd like. Most gate operators and garage door openers can accept numerous accessories to open/ close gates and doors.
Multiple channel receivers are used to control more than one device. These are popular where multiple gates, or garage doors need opened separately with one transmitters. These can also be programmed so some transmitters have access and others do not.
Indoor or outdoor receivers are both available depending on environment radio equipment is used.
Long range radio receivers provide longer range than say the normal range of 50-60'. Many factors will affect range: how receiver is mounted, what it is mounted to (use a nonmetallic surface), and other radio devices being used. Always test receiver before mounting permanently for range; relocate if necessary.
Garage door receiver adapters, or additional receivers, are available to adapt garage door openers to open with same transmitter as supplied by gate opener manufacturers.
Brands, frequencies, and programming methods vary by manufacturer and can include dip switch setting, 'learning' rolling codes, and Weigand output. Consult manufacturer's installation manuals, user guides, and specifications for compatibility and use. Popular brands of radio equipment include Nortek Linear GTO/PRO, Mighty Mule, Chamberlain Liftmaster, Multi-Code, Digi-Code, MillerEdge, Heddolf, and EMX.
