Our Irish Gate Latch is modelled after latches commonly used throughout Ireland’s countryside. Its operation is simple but very effective. We designed our version to work effectively with the European-style Five Bar Gates, as well as our own Maine Board Gate, Cape Cod Gate and Double V Rail Gate plans. Free DIY Wood Gate Plans

The use of our elongated escutcheon plate as a receiver on the post will allow for some gate and post movement and it is easily installed by drilling a few holes or routing a slot to receive the bar. It can be locked in the closed position with the supplied simple cotter pin or you can use a padlock (not included) for more security.

This latch is ideal for use with Wood Gates.
