Drop rod bolts, drop pins, or cane bolts as they are often referred to as, are used on double gates. Typically two or more guides are installed on to one gate leaf and the drop rod slides through these guides. For ground surfaces, drive a piece of pipe, PVC or steel, into the ground for the rod to slide into. For concrete surfaces, drill clear through the concrete for best results. This will allow water to drain out and prevent the drop rod from freezing in the ground. Drop rod bolts have round holes drilled in locations making it possible to lock with a padlock. Drop pins may also be used to hold a single or double gate open. Latches have a rust resistant black finish for long life.
Note: There are a pair of small tabs on the drop rods that enable you to leave them drawn up. To accomplish this all you need to do is pull the drop rod up so one of the tabs is above the upper rod guide and turn the rod 90 degrees. These tabs are on the upper portion of the drop rod, so they will not interfere with the contact on the ground.

Order was correct and arrived sooner than expected. Quality products as well.
Hoover had the style and size of hinges that we needed to match existing sets on our gates. I could not find an identical match either locally or at any other dealers online. The price was reasonable and the items were delivered within a week or so. I would recommend this company.
Completely satisfied with my business transactions with Hoover Fence Co. I highly recommend ordering from their large inventory of items related to fence building. Quality of their products is excellent.
I needed some parts for a new gate I am building. Hoover Fest had the best prices and fast no hassle shipping.
