The Brutus Torsion Gate Spring is designed to apply a “torsion” force to your gate and close it. It is meant to be twisted to apply force and not stretched. This means, that when installed correctly, the act of opening the gate will further wind and/or twist the spring and when you let go of the gate the spring will want to return to its resting position.

The 4612-BPSS Stainless Steel Brutus Gate Spring from Snug Cottage Hardware is a stronger and more reliable gate spring which is designed specifically for use with vinyl and PVC swing gates. The 4612-BPSS features the same heavy duty construction as the Brutus for wood gates but is meant for use on vinyl gates. The spring itself is heavier than the competitions and it is welded at both ends to keep the spring from failing.
