Chain Link Fence Wire & Ties

Chain Link Fence Wire & Ties

Chain link fences are stretched from one end to the other and bolted in place using tension bars and tension bands. At intermediate points, the chain link fence fabric is tied to the fence framework, i.e. line posts (intermediate posts), top rail, mid rail, and bottom rail if and when they exist. A bottom tension wire is very common on chain link fences to add tension to the bottom of the fence. Occasionally a top tension wire is installed in lieu of a top rail.

Use chain link fence aluminum tie wires for most fence projects. They are remarkably strong, won't rust, and tie easily with fence pliers. Steel fence ties are also an option, but are more frequently used on heavy industrial job sites, tall backstops, and when an extra heavy chain link mesh is being stretched. For the seasoned fence contractor, we encourage you to try our Easy Twist or Twist Tight Ties. These install with a drill, are incredibly strong for high security applications, and speed up your time installing a chain link fence.

For chain link fence bottom and top tension wire, in preference of light duty to heavy use, use 9 gauge aluminum, 11 gauge steel, and then 9 gauge steel fence hog rings. Colored hog rings are also an option for matching vinyl coated and colored chain link fences. Fence contractors will want to consider investing in a drill bit tool for use with Easy Twist or Twist Tight tension wire ties. Homeowners and contractors installing chain link fence will quickly find benefit in our fence tools and hog ring tools.

Top off your security fence with Class III galvanized steel barbed wire, colored barbed wire in black, brown, or green, aluminized barbed wire, or all aluminum barbwire.
