The Adjustable 12" Curved Old-Fashioned Hinge Set is corrosion resistant, incredibly strong, and offers a traditional design that has been around since the 1850s! The Old-Fashioned design style compliments and enhances the classic New England Garden Style Gates and fence designs that are so popular within the fencing industry.
Our Adjustable 12" Curved Old-Fashioned Hinges have been developed for use with curved-top gate designs (gates that either curve upward or bow downward). Each pair will come with one curved strap and one straight strap. These hinges allow for a greater range of gate designs that can be used to create a truly beautiful fence project.
The Adjustable 12" Curved Old-Fashioned Hinge Set has forged steel straps and cast iron cups are that are then hot-dipped galvanized. The Black finish hinges are additionally Black Polyester Powder Coated (BPPCG), making them a perfect choice for harsh climates! These hinges are only available in a 12" length and are ideal for pedestrian and garden gates.
The hinge length should be 1/4 to 1/3rd the gate width.
We also carry a version of these strap hinges that are fixed in position (#8292-C-P).
Adjustable 12" Curved Old-Fashioned Hinges (8292-AC) Features:- Heavy duty exterior wood or cellular PVC gate hardware that is ideal for harsh environments!
- The unique adjustable design allows for a high degree of gate or door design flexibility.
- The radius of the curvature of the 12" straps is 54" (o/c radius).
- Each set includes two hot-dipped galvanized or Black (BPPCG) hinges.
- Color matched stainless steel wood screws (2" x #12) included.
- Carriage Bolts sold separately!
- Strap hinges are through bolted to help keep your gate corners square at 90° and to prevent the gate from sagging.
- Minimum 1/4" gate gap required to allow for seasonal expansion and contraction of the wood.
- Gates will open approximately 180° in one direction, folding back against adjacent fence or structure.
- Hinges can be mounted left or right handed.
- Can Be Flush Mounted or Jamb Mounted
- This item is also available in a Fixed version (#8292-C-P).
- Optional 3" Long Stainless Steel Wood Screws available (#FP-3XL24).
Ordering Notes:
Carriage bolts for the hinge straps are sold separately! Each strap hinge requires one 3/8" carriage bolt. Carriage bolts must be 1" greater than the thickness of your door/gate.
All gates will require two Hinges per gate leaf. Only use three hinges per leaf if the gate is over 6'H.
If you are building a double gate, then you will need a minimum of one cane bolt/drop rod to prevent damage to your hardware and/or gate. Use two cane bolts/drop rods if you will need to hold both gate leafs open.
Optional Accessories:
Snug Cottage Hardware offers latch styles for traditional or contemporary esthetics. Consider adding a traditional gate closer to your auto latching hardware so that your gate isn't left swinging open.

- Multiple mounting options give you the flexibility for the hinge to curve down for scalloped applications or curve up for arched applications.
- Our Adjustable Curve hinge can be mounted on either the left- or right-hand side of a gate/door and curve either upward or downward on either side. The curved portion of the strap also articulates allowing it to easily match up to varying gate/door designs.
