Double Straps with Rear Eye - 3-1/2" Gap (8325)

Our Rear Eye Double Strap Hinges are incredibly robust and durable! They combine heavy duty construction and strength with easy adjustment while reducing the space required between the gate and post to as little as 1/2". They are ideal for use on heavy gates such as rail gates, driveway entrance gates, dumpster enclosure gates, agricultural gates and the traditional English ‘Five Bar Gate’.

Double Straps not only hang the gate, they strengthen and support the gate. By sandwiching the lumber between the straps the corner of the gate is effectively locked at 90 degrees to prevent sagging and distortion. Strong, Full Lateral Adjustment and only 1/2" between the Gate and the Post. This Hardware Combination has it all!

This hardware is ideal for use with wood gates.

Double Straps with Rear Eye - 3-1/2" Gap (8325) Features:

Extremely heavy duty!
Intended for use on large, heavy gates constructed using wood or cellular PVC.
Available in 5", 12", 18" or 24" lengths.
Straps are 2" wide x 1/4" thick.
3.5" space between straps.
3/4" eye to fit our 3/4" pin selection (Sold Separately).
Sold individually.
Manufactured from forged steel.
Available in Hot Dipped Galvanized or Black (BPPCG) finishes.
Color matched carriage bolts included.
Double Straps Sandwich the Wood Between the Straps to Lock the Gate at 90 Degrees to Prevent Sagging and Distortion.
The "Rear Eye" Double Strap enables one to hang large, heavy Gates with a space between the Gate and the Post as little as one-half inch. Ideal for use with more ornate sleeved Posts. Depending on the thickness of the Post the Gate can be mounted even with the front of the Post or slightly in front of the front edge of the Post. Gate can be opened about 135 Degrees.
A Long Double Strap is Usually Used on the Top Rail of the Gate (12" For Gates up to 4' Wide, 18" For Gates up to 7' Wide, and 24" For Gates up to 10' Wide).
The 5" Double Strap can be Used on the Bottom of All Sizes of Gates.
Gates Over Six Feet High Should Have a Third Hinge.

8325 Heavy Duty Rear Eye Double Strap Hinge - Instructions (PDF)

Ideally used for heavy gates, such as rail gates, driveway entrance gates, dumpster enclosure gates, agricultural gates and the traditional English 'Five Bar Gate'.
As little as a 1/2" space is required between the gate and post.
Double strap hinges sandwich the gate between the straps, virtually locking the corner square at 90 degrees. This helps to prevent the gate from sagging.

We are pleased that Ernest chose to use our hardware to hang this gate and finish off this beautiful project. Ernest chose to use a combination of 12" (Top) and 5" (Bottom) 8325 Heavy Duty Double Strap Hinges mounted to 8256-34P Mounting Plates with 8" Adjustable Pin. He also used our FP-8256-B Hardware Kits. The gate is secured using the Snug Cottage 6159-B316 Suffolk Gate latch. Ana chose to use the 18" Heavy Duty Double Strap Hinges, Rear Eye (8325-182), Mounting Plate with 8" Adjustable Hinge (8256-342), and 6-1/2" Carriage Bolts, Nuts and Washers (FP-8256-G). The extra wide double strap hinges fit gates that are 3-1/2" thick which is perfect for building gates using 5/4" boards.
