Our Adjustable Hinge Mount with 6” Threaded Pin is typically mounted on the face of a post and allows for easy lateral adjustment of the gate being hung. Lateral adjustments allow you to adjust your hinge gap and correct for slight gate sag. If paired with our Rear Eye Double Strap Hinges (#8324 / #8325), or our Heavy Duty Cranked Strap Hinges (#8305), the gate will end up flush with the face of the post.
This item is sold Individually.
3/8" carriage bolts are sold separately. Each Hinge Mount requires five carriage bolts.
Adjustable Hinge Mount with 6" Threaded Pin (8256) Features:Ordering Notes:

If your post is 6" square, then you may use the #FP-8256 fastener packs, linked in the PARTS FOR THIS PRODUCT section below.
All gates will require two Hinge Mounts per gate leaf. Only use three hinges per leaf if the gate is over 8'H.

Awesome picture from a customer in Canada, of a custom decorative gate using Snug Cottage hardware. The gate is hung using two 24" Heavy Duty Black Cranked Band Hinges (8305-24P) attached to Mounting Plates with 6" Adjustable Pins (8256-34P) To latch the gate, they used the Irish Gate Latch (8328-00SP).
Here are some great pictures from our customer Shaun up in Alberta, Canada, of a black chain link fence double date, featuring winged privacy slats, and installed on his cedar privacy fence using our Snug Cottage Mounting Plate with 8" Adjustable Threaded Pins (8256-34P), in a black finish. This project turned out great and is a beautiful blend of wood and and black chain link fence. Thank you very much Shaun!
Here are some great pictures from our customer Abel down in Deer Park, Texas, of a very heavy duty gate he built and attached to his dog-ear wood fence, installed on 4x4 steel posts. He used our Snug Cottage wood gate hardware to install this gate, to provide a very secure installation.
The gate is hung using three 18" Heavy Duty Galvanized Cranked Band Hinges (8305-182) paired with Back Plates (8305-BP182), attached to Mounting Plates with 8" Adjustable Pins (8256-342), also using Backing Plates (8256-BP022). Note how the top pin faces down, which keeps the gate from being lifted off the hinges. To latch the gate, Abel used our 15" Slide Bolt (5002-L152). For added security, and to relieve stress on the latch, Abel also installed two stainless steel gate stops (1400-316).
Here are some great pictures from our customer Matthew out in Bethel, Connecticut, who built a Maine Board Gate using our DIY Gate Plans. Customer Comments:
"I built a twelve foot wide double Cape Cod board gate with rear eye hinges using pressure treated pine deck boards following the gate plans provided on the Hoover Fence website, with slight modifications. The slope of the land where the gate is located grades downward. This results in any gate to be able to open one way; hence, the rear eye hinge selection. My 6x6 gate posts had already been set at about 70 inches high when I found the gate plans. The plans have the post side boards at 72 inches high so I cut them to 68" to be slightly lower than the posts. This also required a modification to the length of the diagonal boards. I also attached 48 inch high fence wire to my gate to keep smaller animals inside the fenced in area. This caused the gate to be slightly thicker than the gate plans requiring 4 inch carriage bolts rather than the 3.5 inch bolts listed in the plans. The plans also call for 1.75" wood screws. The large home improvement store that I purchase from does not carry an exterior grade screw in that size so I stepped down to 1 5/8 inch screws to use on some parts of the gate, but mostly 3 inch screws on areas where 3 boards and fence wire meshed.
Using the Hoover Fence gate plans took me a little while to understand. The video that they provide on the website helped. Once you figure out what all of the pieces are for, the second gate is easy to build. My gates are thicker than the gate hinges were meant to be, so I had to use a plunge router to inlay the hinges into boards. Once I got the first gate completed I found out how heavy it is. If it's not 200 lbs. it's pretty close. I used my tractor with pallet forks to place the gate. I set the gate on a spare deck board to allow for clearance and made sure it was mostly level. I marked where the hinge holes were locate, drilled holes in the post with a 3/8 auger bit, hooked the gate bolts onto the gate, tapped the carriage bolts through the hinges and the post, tightened down the bolts with a washer and nut. I then finished leveling the gate by turning the large nuts on the hinges. It went surprisingly quick and easier than I expected. I'd like to note that when you open the gates all the way you lose about 6 inches of clearance on each gate. This means that my 12 foot wide gate opening has about 11 feet of clearance.
Everything turned out perfectly. Every piece of Hoover Fence hardware that I got is great and the gate looks great. I highly recommend the hinges and hardware from Hoover Fence. I already have Hoover Fence hardware to make a 20 foot wide double gate using Central Eye hinges. I don't know how much heavier a 10 foot wide gate is compared to the 6 foot ones that I made and if the Central Eye hinges can hold them up, but I'll find out and so will Hoover Fence."

Here are a couple of pictures of a very heavy duty door that our customer built and hung for his new bar/restaurant over in Idaho. Larry chose to use a variety of Snug Cottage Hardware to hinge the door, and he couldn't be more pleased with the results.
The Gate Hinges used are a combination of 8305 Series Heavy Duty Cranked Strap Hinges, 8307 Series Heavy Duty Straight Strap Hinges, and 8256-34P Mounting Plates with 8" Adjustable Pins. All this hardware is finished in a black powder coated polyester which is applied over hot-dip galvanized steel, creating an incredibly durable product.
The project looks great Larry! Good luck with the new restaurant!

Customer Feedback:
"George. Happy New Year. As I mentioned earlier, I am terrifically impressed with the quality of your hardware, but still reeling from the cost. Nevertheless, I love the results and my gates swing wide open with a light nudge. Hope these photos will inspire others. Your friend and new customer in Savannah, GA. Ernie T."
Thank you so much Eddie! We know that this hardware is more expensive than the 'competitions' but as you attest it is better than the rest. Keep up the great work and enjoy your new outdoor living space - you deserve it!

Delivered as promised. Descriptions matched product. Details posted (hardware included or not, etc.).
Ordering was easy. I called and spoke with a very knowledgeable associate. She forwarded me to another person who was kind enough to retrieve an item from stock, and provide the measurements I needed to finish making a decision on which strap hinge to purchase. The hinges are super duty to say the least. They arrived in a single box (heavy), individually wrapped in paper to prevent clanging and scratches during shipment. The hinges I purchased are galvanized steel, so scratches would not have mattered really, but I was completely impressed that someone took such care. Thank you!
We love our hardware. Our gate looks amazing!
Excellent purchase
