Heavy Duty Cranked Strap Hinge Hardware Sets (8305-S)
Our Heavy Duty Cranked Strap Hinge Hardware Sets package together 1 pair of Heavy Duty Cranked Strap Hinges with our Adjustable Hinge Mounts and 6” Pins creating a versatile, flush mount hinge system that can be used on almost any gate. This hinge setup requires minimum space between the gate and post and provides for lateral adjustment of the gate later in case the need arises.
We offer these kits, in three sizes (12", 18", 24", and 36") and two finishes (Hot Dip Galvanized and BPPCG).
The cranked band hinges are designed to work with the 8256 mounting plates. The offset portion allows for installation without the use of a spacer block and the small 'crank' allows for the eye to match with the pin, keeping the gate and post on the same plane. Hinges are designed to be through-bolted which helps to prevent the gate from sagging. These kits are perfect for use with our Free DIY Wood Gate Plans.
Heavy Duty Cranked Strap Hinge Hardware Sets (8305-S) Features:- Extremely heavy duty!
- Intended for use on wood and cellular PVC applications.
- Available in 12", 18", 24" or 36" lengths.
- Straps are 2-1/4" wide x 3/16" thick.
- Optional back plates (#8305) available for both the hinge straps and mounting plates.
- Sold in pairs.
- Manufactured from forged steel.
- Available in Hot Dipped Galvanized or Black (BPPCG) finishes.
- Fasteners not included.
- If Fastening with Carriage Bolts (Preferred), Bolts Will Need to be 1.0" Longer than Thickness of Post.
Notes from the Hoover Fence Staff:
Fasteners are not included. We suggest purchasing fasteners that are 1" longer than the thickness of your gate for mounting the 8305 straps. As for the 8265 Mounting Plates, providing that you are mounting to a 6" x 6" post, then each adjustable hinge mount will require a pack of (5) 6-1/2" carriage bolts (Part # FP-8256). More guidance can be found in the installation tab.

Snug Cottage Hardware 8305-S24 Installation Manual (PDF)
- Ideally used for heavier wood and cellular PVC gates.
- The bend or "crank" in the strap is equal to the offset on the hinge mount providing a flush mount installation. This allows for minimum space (as little as 1/2") between your gate and post once it is installed.
- The optional back plates for both the strap hinges and the mounting plates provide both additional strength (acting as large washers) and a polished look by adding the hardware aesthetic to the opposite side of the gate.
