Double Straps with Rear Eye Hardware Sets - 3" Gap (8324-S)
Our Double Straps with Rear Eye Sets packages together 2 of our Rear Eye Double Straps (top and bottom hinges with 3" or 3-1/2" space between straps) and 2 matching plates with adjustable pins. They provide for a strong installation, full lateral adjustment and as little as a 1/2" between the gate and the post. Ideal for double driveway entrance dates, rail gates, dumpster enclosure gates.
This hardware set includes Two 8324 Rear Eye Double Strap Hinges and Two 8256 Mounting Plates with 6" Adjustable Pins. These hinge sets combine incredibly strong and heavy duty construction along with easy adjustability.
We offer these kits, in three sizes (12", 18", and 24") and two finishes (Hot Dip Galvanized and BPPCG). The 12" kits are designed for gates up to 4' wide, the 18" kits are designed for gates up to 7' wide, and the 24" kits will work for gate leafs up to 10' wide! Order one set per gate leaf on your project.
The rear eye double strap hinges are designed to work with 3" thick gates. Double strap hinges sandwich the wood between the straps which helps to lock your corners at 90° which helps to prevent the gate from sagging. These kits are perfect for use with our Free DIY Wood Gate Plans.

- Space between straps meant to accommodate 3" thick gates.
- Manufactured from forged steel.
- Available in Hot Dipped Galvanized or Black (BPPCG) finishes.

- Ideally used for heavy gates, such as rail gates, driveway entrance gates, dumpster enclosure gates, agricultural gates and the traditional English 'Five Bar Gate'.
- As little as a 1/2" space is required between the gate and post.
- Double strap hinges sandwich the gate between the straps, virtually locking the corner square at 90 degrees. This helps to prevent the gate from sagging.

Great products, but Bolts Not Long Enough

I purchased double strap hinge sets for a new double gate I am building. They look great and will last forever. The only problem is the 6.5" carriage bolts for the mounting plates. The posts are true 6" rough cut cedar and I expected these bolts, as recommended for the plates, to work. However, when you subtract 1/8" for the head, 1/8" for the washer, and 1/4" thickness of the plate, the bolts barely peek out the rear of the post and the nuts will not catch.
